B&W vs NYW&B

BOSTON WESTCHESTER

The official name of our local North Pelham railroad was the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway Company. This was often abbreviated into NYW&B.

In communities served by the railroad, Westchester and the Bronx, local people often referred to it as the "Boston Westchester" This nickname has, amazingly, survived in the peoples' vocabulary for seven decades after the line closed. Thus long time Pelhamites still refer to it as the B&W or the Boston Westchester. From our point of view both NYW&B (officially) and B&W (informally) are fine ways to describe our bridge and greenspace.
